Historic Lodge built in 1876 by The Fourth Earl of Dunraven

5 bedroom, 3 bath, 3200 square foot, stunning mountain views on 4 acres

The oldest rental cabin in Colorado. One of the most historic and oldest homes in Estes Park. Estes Valley Vacation Home Operating Permit #256-P. Our Vernacular Queen Anne style Cottage is as beautiful outside as it is comfortable inside. We look out on the 18 hole golf course and have stunning views of Longs Peak and the Estes Valley. Lord Dunraven built the Cottage for himself and his Irish and English well to do, socialite and aristocratic guests to relax, enjoy, vacation and get the most out of their stay. You can do that as well. You cannot replicate the welcoming feel or ambiance of a 141 year old home. It is a one of a kind property and experience.

We have a full kitchen and dining room. We have a gas grill and a fire pit with skewers for you to enjoy. The cottage sleeps 10 plus one or two. We have 3 queen, 1 full and 3 twin beds. We have a common bathroom off the foyer with tub as well as 2 other bathrooms with tiled walk in showers in each. We have wireless internet and a television set with Netflix, games, books, puzzles and room to roam the grounds. You may not want to leave the shade on the wrap around front porch with its view and relaxing setting. Deer and Elk frequent the property.

Lord Dunraven was a world traveler and sportsman. He was a soldier, author with numerous published books, war reporter, politician, philanthropist and owner of two Americas Cup racers which at the time were the most famous race boats in the world. Some of his personal hunting guides were "Buffalo Bill" Cody and "Texas Jack". He fell in love with the Estes valley in 1872 and began plans to own all of it. Through legal and illegal means he acquired @6000 acres and controlled up to 15000 acres. He is a hero or villain depending on who you ask. He built a hotel in 1877 which no longer exists, just south of the Cottage and sold his holdings in 1906 to Mr. Stanley who then built The Stanley Hotel.

We are a strict no smoking property. Sorry but NO PETS.

Such a rich history here! Dunraven Inn was a fantastic place for our family. Love that our children & grandchildren could exprience the history and just all around beauty of this property. The outcrop of rocks in the front was just right for the littles to climb and make a "bear hive"! The views were amaing and we spent a lot of time just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Thanks so much Chris & Co.! Julie - 6/23/2017

Perfect setting for a relaxing family weekend. My family met at the cottage for my wedding over Labor Day Weekend. I envisioned a laid back family time to enjoy eveyone and get married and we got just that! I loved the cottage along with its own special personality. Chris met us at the cottage and gave us a hostorical tour, which I in turned enjoyed giving everyone who came to visit. Sitting at the camp fire cooking S'mores was so much fun! I highly recommend this property/owner and I can't wait to go back. Katy - 9/6/2016

A great place for the whole family! Had a wonderful time at Dunraven Cottage! Plenty of room for all and so well stocked. Don't think there was anything you havn't thought of to provide. It was wonderful to be away from the noise and crowed of downtown but we could be there in a few minutes if we wanted. Beautiful view and setting. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of towels, etc. Kitchen was well stocked. Appreciated the paper products. We even enjoyed learning the history of Dunraven Cottage! Glad there wasn't TV since we played lots of games and ended up doing your 1000 piece puzzle which all enjoyed working on! It was a Challenge! Hope to come back to Dunraven Cottage next year! The property was perfect for our family get together We had a great experiece with this property. There were 5 adults and 5 children that stayed for 5 nights. The house is 140 years old and has beeen preserved very well. There are historical shadow boxes with some very interesting history. The location was perfect for us because the house is easy walking distance to Lake Estes. Thanks Chris for some wonderful memories! Don 8/7/2016

Dunraven Cottage What a great property! Chris and Susan meet us when we checked in. They were so welcoming and kind. They gave us a tour and explained some of the history of the cottage. They informed us of how things worked and if there was anything we needed help with we could call or text him. The cottage is lovely with so much personality. The beds are incredibly comfortable. The rooms are large which allowed our family to be together playing games or watching a movie all togehter. The week was wonderful and by far the best hosts possible. We will stay there again and highly recommend this property. Crystal 7/20/2016

A Unique and Beautiful Historic Cottage Eight adult members of my family had the pleasure of staying at Dunraven Cottage for 5 nights over the 4th of July weekend. The cottage is exactly as pictured - old and quirky and lovely! The large rooms are well furnished with antiques and period pieces that make it very comfortable and fun. There was lots of room for all of us to gather on the porch and in the living and to enjoy meals in the large dining room. The bedrooms are large and beds are very comfortable with memory foam mattresses. The bathrooms may not be to eveyone's liking, as 2 of them are communal/dorm style, but we had no problem with them. The showers are new and large and the bathrooms overstocked with thick new towels. The kitchen was very large and exceptionally well stocked. Anything you could want (excpet a dishwasher) is provided. Lots of dishes and disposables provided. The cottage is located on a large property with a fantastic view of the the Estes Park area and the mountains. We really apperciated the location as you do not have to drive to the center of Estes Park to get to the house. All the vistors to RMNP can make the driving in town a challenge and we could avoid most of that. Having our morning coffee on the porch and looking at Long's Peak was a relaxing treat! We had deer and elk in the yard many mornings. We had a wonderful time at this unique cottage and would love to return! 7/6/2016
